This grade I 16th and 17th century townhouse is one of the most impressive and distinctive buildings in Rochester's historic High Street. It also has many fascinating stories to tell. Once the family home of Sir Peter Buck, a senior officer at the Royal Tudor Dockyard in Chatham, the house has also been a Victorian boarding school and an inspiration to the great author Charles Dickens. Many of the original features of the house has been restored through a Heritage Lottery Funded project, and visitors can explore this remarkable building to learn about those who lived, worked and played here. Special exhibitions and events run throughout the year.
